Two of the most common ways to get halal food delivered to your home or office in Singapore are tingkat delivery and event catering. They look similar on the surface — both deliver prepared halal food to your door — but they serve very different purposes. Here is how to tell them apart and pick the right one.
What is tingkat delivery?
Tingkat (also called ‘daily meals’ or ‘tiffin delivery’) is a subscription-based home meal delivery service. You subscribe for a set number of meals per week — typically 3–5 days of lunch or dinner — and a caterer delivers a fresh set of dishes to your home each day in stackable containers (the ‘tingkat’).
A standard halal tingkat package typically includes 1–2 meat dishes, a vegetable dish, and rice, portioned for a family of 4–5. It is a practical solution for busy families who want home-cooked style food without cooking every night.
What is event catering?
Event catering is a one-time (or occasional) food service for a specific occasion — a birthday party, a corporate meeting, a wedding, a full month celebration. The caterer prepares food for your event, delivers it, and sometimes sets it up on-site. It is not a recurring service.

When to choose tingkat
- You want regular, reliable halal meals at home without cooking every day
- Your household is 2–6 people and you want consistent daily food
- You are looking for a long-term solution to reduce weeknight meal stress
- You are a working parent, a caregiver, or someone recently recovering from an event like childbirth
When to choose event catering
- You are hosting a one-time event with 20 or more guests
- You need variety and volume — more dishes, more choice, presentation matters
- You want setup, serving equipment, or teardown handled professionally
- Your event has a specific theme, format, or dietary mix to accommodate
Can you use the same caterer for both?
Some caterers in Singapore offer both services, but many specialise in one or the other. Tingkat providers focus on consistency and daily logistics; event caterers focus on volume, presentation, and one-time execution. If you need both services, it is worth checking whether your preferred event caterer also offers a tingkat or regular meal delivery product — it is increasingly common.
